First Congregational Church of Darien’s Annual Antiques Show to Benefit
St. Luke’s LifeWorks
The Congregational Church of Darien’s 44th Annual Darien Antiques Show, to be held March 4 – 6, will kick off with a Preview Party, “An Evening Out for St. Luke's LifeWorks," on Friday, March 4, from 7:00-9:00 p.m., with a special early preview entrance at 6:30 for Patron level ticket holders. The event’s primary beneficiary will be St. Luke’s LifeWorks of Stamford, a not-for-profit organization which plays a critical role in providing learning opportunities, housing and support services to people overcoming homelessness right here in Fairfield County.
Preview Party tickets are $50 at the door and include weekend admission to the show. The evening features the opportunity to view the antiques in an elegant and relaxed setting, make early purchases before the show opens to the public, and place bids in a silent and live auction, while enjoying fine wines and hors d’oeuvres accompanied by musical entertainment. Dear Friends,
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters, volunteers, donors, and shoppers who helped to make the launch of St. Luke’s LifeWorks’ Signature Community Partnership with Fairway Market in Stamford a great success. I hope that this success is an indication of the quality of the partnership, and the important role that it will play in the community, both in terms of helping break the cycle of homelessness and supporting local business endeavors.
A special thanks to Congressman Jim Himes, Mayor Pavia, Randi Glickberg, Amy Weisman, and Alison Chaltas for their remarks and presence at the launch event on Sunday, February 13th. The event had a great turnout-the crowds and sales were the 3rd highest since Fairway Market opened, behind only Thanksgiving and Christmas, but ahead of Super Bowl Sunday! I look forward to working with Fairway Market throughout the next year.

SLLW commemorated our solar panel energy initiative with Soltage, LLC by hosting a reception in the lobby of Franklin Commons on March 23, 2011. The event featured remarks from CEO Jason Shaplen, Congressman Jim Himes, Mayor Mike Pavia, and Soltage CEO Jesse Grossman. Built, financed, owned and operated by Soltage LLC, the partnership demonstrates how a non-profit organization, private enterprise, and government-sponsored program can align to achieve common goals for the good of a community. On May 9th, representatives from the Darien Antiques Show Committee visited Franklin Commons to present SLLW with the First Congregational Church of Darien’s donation from the proceeds of the March 4th Preview Party. SLLW is greatly appreciative of this generous contribution, and for being selected as the primary beneficiary by the Committee. We look forward to working with the First Congregational Church of Darien in the future!

UBS threw a circus party for the kids in our programs, featuring a clown, face painting, animal balloons, games, crafts, pizza, and fun! The kids had a great time, and so did the volunteers from UBS! Many thanks to UBS for the wonderful event. Click here to view more photos from the event!
