St. Luke’s LifeWorks is already in preparation for the 22nd Annual Holiday Gift Collection (HGC’11)! This year’s Collection is slated to begin November 7th, with wrapping parties on December 10th and 17th in the toy workshop at St. Luke’s LifeWorks in Stamford, CT.  HGC ‘11 has dynamic sponsorship opportunities and “Wish Card” fulfillments that provide personalized gifts to over 2,500 children affected by poverty and/or HIV/AIDS living in Fairfield County.

The Holiday Gift Collection began in 1989 in response to the plight of families living with HIV/AIDS by providing toys to children who would not otherwise receive holiday gifts. During the Collection’s first year, 250 gifts were provided to 30 families. Since then, the Collection has evolved and is one of the largest holiday collections of gifts in the region, reaching upwards of 100,000 people county-wide.  Last year, the event collected over 6,000 gifts for more than 2,500 children from 34 different non-profit agencies. Over 1,000 volunteers eagerly decorated the Toy Workshop, wrapped, and checked in gifts throughout the campaign until December.
